Woman Delivers Triplets at Badagry General Hospital

A set of three female triplets delivered at Badagry General Hospital on the 16th of September A young woman, Mrs. Innocent, who resides at Imeke, Ajido has delivered a set of triplets.

The delivery took place inside the labour room of Badagry General Hospital, on ASCON Road, in Badagry.

According to one of the top nurses in the unit, Mrs. Nesiama, the all-female delivery took place within a spate of ten minutes.

“The first delivery,” she said, “took place at exactly 12:05pm; the second at 12:10pm; while the third occurred at 12:14pm.” She added that all were safe deliveries.

Corroborating Mrs. Nesiama was the Chief Nursing Officer in charge of the shift duty, Mr. I. A. Ojo. He revealed that “since the scan revealed multiple pregnancies, she has been placed on intensive care since the 28th of July, this year.

An excited Mrs. Innocent said she thanked God for the safe delivery. She noted that it was her fifth delivery and that before now, she had had four single deliveries.

She was not however without her fears. She said she was struck with fear when she first knew she had multiple pregnancies. That fear has now been alleviated.

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Husitode Moses Dosu, arrived in the Labour Ward at around 6:36pm to be received by one Mr. Kojo and later, by the Chief Medical Officer in charge of Maternity, Dr. Adedeji Akinlade.

The chairman noted that the triplets’ delivery was good news for Badagry. He noted that he was at a Ramadan Lecture when news got to him that a woman had delivered a set of triplets at Badagry General Hospital. He thanked God for being merciful unto Badagry. He took time to pray for the children and their family.

In the same development, the Chief Medical Officer in charge of the Maternity, Dr. Adedeji Akinlade has given thumbs to health workers at Badagry General Hospital. He added that health care delivery in Badagry has reached a new level as people come from far and near to access treatment.

Meanwhile, the wife of the chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mrs. Bukola Husitode today the 18th of September visited the Maternity Ward of Badagry General Hospital in company with the Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman on Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Elizabeth Hunpe. The Chairperson was received by the Deputy Medical Director, Dr.Tunji Olabutu and other nurses present.

While Mrs. Bukola Husitode thanked God for the safe delivery, she seized the opportunity to present delivery packs to all the babies and their mothers, present in the Ward.

On his part, the Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Tunji Olabutu thanked the chairperson for her kind gesture. He noted that overtime, General Hospital, Badagry, had improved in health-care delivery. “We have been recording successes,” he said, “in the delivery of babies and child and maternal mortality rate and overall morbidity has reduced drastically. A lot of these changes have emerged as a result of the presence of Specialist Doctors and facilities on ground.” He disclosed that morbidity rate in the hospital had been scaled down to twenty percent in a year.
